Course Information

In 2017 we updated the 13er course to include Harper Lake and more soft surfaces and told us that YOU LOVED IT.  In 2018 we found even better ways to improve the 13er experience on the course and they made it SPECTACULAR!  The course is now even more picturesque and "runnable"!  You'll LOVE the elevation gain (or rather, lack thereof!) It features TEN passes of an aid station, FIVE restroom passes, and TWO loops which include NINE miles of soft surface and COUNTLESS opportunities for high fives and cheers!  Check out the maps and information below:

Expo Location (Start&Finish)
The start line & finish line for all distances and the registration, late packet pick up & runner expo are all here:

Course Surface
The 10k and 5k courses are on asphalt and concrete and crushed gravel.
The 13er course enjoys 9 miles of crushed gravel on the Davidson Mesa Trail and Harper Lake Loop and about 4 total miles of asphalt/concrete.

There is 1 water station that 5k runners will pass twice and approximately miles 1 and 2. There are THREE water stations that which 10k runners will pass FIVE times on the course at approximately miles 1, 2.5, 3.5, 4.5 and 5.
The 5k distance is OUT and BACK, which means runners need to stay to the right to avoid oncoming racers.

The 13er will see water and an electrolyte drink at water stations 10 times at approximately miles 1, 2.5, 3.5, 5, 5.5, 7.5, 9, 10.5, 11.5 & 12.
Energy gels will be available at the mile 5 and 10.5 aid stations only.

There will portajohns at the Expo (start/finish) and 5 other times on the course at miles 2.75, 3.75, 6.5, 9.25 & 10.25.  The 10k will also see a port-o-john near the turnaround. 5k Runners will NOT see a restroom on course.

Yes, there are cups at the aid stations. The finish line remains a cup-free finish line. You can store you bottle in your car or in the water-bottle drop zone.

Dog are NOT allowed at the 13er event.

Strollers are permitted. This course does go up on the mesa which is packed gravel. We would recommend a jogging stroller.

As you can see from the map links on this page, the 13er is a DOUBLE loop of all of the best stuff that Louisville, Colorado has to offer.  From the start line, you'll warm up nicely with an uphill mile to the mesa, passing an aid station along the way where you're welcome to drop a layer or grab a drink!  Once in the Mesa, you'll run counterclockwise as you head north to Harper Lake while passing an aid station.  The views to your west of the Front Range and Flatirons may just take your breath away, but the FLAT mesa won't be to blame!  From the Mesa, you'll safely cross UNDER the Boulevard to Harper Lake where you'll find a 'sanitation station' with restrooms.  You'll loop around the lake (it's about a mile loop) and pass those restrooms again before tucking under the street again and back to the Mesa.  You'll stay on the North side of the Mesa, passing two more aid stations on your way back to the Expo area.  You won't quite make it to the finish line before you turn around to complete your second loop, but you WILL pass by some more restrooms and the ENERGY of the spectators cheering you on!  As you head out for the second loop, you'll know just when to 'turn it on' and you'll be able to see the other racers MULTIPLE times on your journey!
